Current Events View Sample
Sports stories dominate the headlines in the world today. WCS uses these headlines to inspire students to do better in Math, English, Science and with identifying a collegiate major that will allow them to use their passion in the business side of sports. The objective of this game is for students work in five groups of ten (10) to solve a modern problem in sports. Students are asked to think like a Sports Business Professional (SBP). Educational Outcomes for Students include: increased aptitude to think about sports headlines in terms of Math, Kinesiology and Ethics; learning to research sports career options when reading sports headlines; opportunity to engage in public speaking and team building skills. -
Building a Brand View Sample
The objective of this game is for students to assist a sports industry personality by advising the personality as to marketing deals. Students are asked to think like a Sports Business Professional (SBP). Fives sets of teams with ten (10) students per team will be assigned to the following groups:
(a) Brand Identification
(b) Brand Legalities
(c) Brand Ethics
(d) Brand Philanthropic Objectives
(e) Brand Budget -
You be the General Manager (GM) View Sample
The objective of this game is to teach students the importance of ethics in the context of a Professional League Draft and employer decision-making when considering new hires. Students are asked to think like a Sports Business Professional (SBP). Five sets of teams with ten (10) students per team will be assigned to the following groups:
(a) Salary Cap (Finance & Tax);
(b) Player Personnel (Talent Assessment, Health, Psychological/Emotional Evaluation);
(c) Ethical Investigation;
(d) Brand Identity;
(e) Academic Assessment.Educational Outcomes for Students include: increased understanding of legal terms such as a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA); increased understanding of how Math is used in Salary Cap determinations; increased understanding of Sports Industry's use of ethics investigations when considering hiring an employee and drafting a collegiate player; opportunity to engage in public speaking, co-team member assessment and team-building skills.
Educational Outcomes for Students include: increased familiarity with the definition of Brand; increased familiarity with how ethics effect a Brand; opportunity to engage in public speaking and team building skills; increased familiarity with sports careers other than professional athlete.
